Chapter VIII: Yellow Warning
Carl and I never got tired of plotting revenge to each other. He would something to piss me off and for his information, it does piss me off. He was slowly getting into my nerves because of his petty tactics. I just wanted to crumple him like a useless scratch paper. Speaking of crumpled paper, it was one boring day inside the gymnasium when I thought of playing with Carl. It was our monthly Mental Health class and he was sleeping in his chair. Not so pleasant to my eyes that’s why I planned on waking him up. I sat straight and crumpled a paper. I positioned myself as if it is impossible for me to be the suspect. Then, I threw the paper to his direction. When the paper hit his forehead he woke up with rage in his eyes. Then, I turned my gaze on the black board where the teacher is writing something. I got hold of my ball pen and I started to write down notes. From my peripheral view I saw Chua looking at me. He is now holding the crumpled paper in his hands. I was about to laugh when I saw the confusion in his face when he opened the paper. Oh sorry, it’s empty. Blank paper. Our days in school passed by with Carl and I endlessly plotting each other’s annoyance. It was fine and tolerable, not until he decided to level it up. He level it up too much that I had to do it. It was nearly a harmless day when I wore my uniform and put on the necktie. I put on my shoes and tucked my hair into my signature style. A bun. I cleaned my glasses and put it back on my eyes. With my bag on my shoulders, I went out my room. Priam was surprisingly at the dining table early this morning. Maybe miracles do happen. After I knew that Carl was my neighbor, I decided to go back to our house. I decided to stay here because who knows what Carl might do to me if I’m still living in my condo unit. The time inside the classroom felt like forever. All of our teachers conducted a quiz and had a discussion right after which was draining for almost all our classmates. That’s why when break time came; they were like zombies running for their target when they went out. While Samina and I? We just disappointingly looked at the students that forgot their manners while lining up in the cafeteria. "Should I order us food or not?" Samina asked and I told her to just reserve a seat for us I stood in line waiting for the others to finish ordering their food. Samina wanted a burger so I ordered one for me and her. I also ordered a frappe and a soda for us. I was walking to our table’s direction when I felt someone trip me. The tray of food fell on the floor. What a waste. I was about to stand up and clean up the mess I made when I felt a cold liquid of soda showered me. My mouth opened wide with shock and I can hear the murmurs of the students who witnessed it. "Oh my! Did you saw that?" "Of course girl! Geez, I like the guts." "His confidence in bullying will lead him nowhere but down. Such a nuisance." "More trouble guys! It’s Mr. Troublemaker!" He was smiling from one ear to another that really pissed me off. He was that courageous to play with me. Only a man like him will have the guts to go against the student council. "Are you that immature? Do you think this petty act of bullying will hinder me from pulling you down?" "Well to start with, you’re the one who is in a downfall, Miss President." "What’s wrong with you, Carl?" I asked trying to understand why he was doing this A hint of recognition showed in his eyes but he shook it off. I was out here trying to understand why my once closest friend is now going against me. Did he loathed me? But I never did anything wrong that could’ve caused him to hate me that much. He stared into my eyes for minutes before he flinched and I had no choice but to give him this. "Yellow warning. I’m giving you a yellow warning." "Sure." he just replied and walked away like nothing happened
