Chapter XIII: White Christmas

I was going to spend Christmas in our mansion that’s why i left the condo unit yesterday to sleep here. It was only six o’clock in the morning and mostly the maids are just the ones who are awake. Mom must have overslept. She had been busy on our company too much and forgot to leave some time for herself. She collected eye bags and such. She looks way too haggard too. I went out my room and headed to the leaving room. I was still in my pajamas when I got the fresh milk from the refrigerator. I was protesting with myself minutes ago if I should take a bath. The opposing side won but I brushed my teeth and washed my face. Its just taking a bath that is left undone. Bored was understatement of what I’m feeling early this morning. To entertain myself, I pulled one magazine out of the pile of magazines under the center table and read it. Christmas in Korea I’ve read the headline and I jumped for joy. I ran to Mom’s room while holding the magazine and I went in without knocking. Mom was on her bed so I jumped to he reside and waked her up. "Mom! Are we going to Korea?!"I asked happily "Piper.......it’s too early." she said while stretching her arms "Mom! Are we going to Korea?!"I asked again and Mom sat on her bed "This Christmas? Well, yeah." she said and I heard her door opened I saw a Priam with a messy hair, dried saliva on the side of his lips--- eww, and on a blue pajamas. His one hand is rubbing his eyes while the other is on the doorknob. "Oh my God! I forgot to tell you kids! Today is our flight! Go pack your clothes and we’ll run out of time!" Mom hysterically said and went to her closet to get something "Flight?" Priam asked confused "What time?" I asked Mom and she shouted ’9:00’ so I ran to my room to pack my clothes Showering was the next thing I did and changed my clothes before eating breakfast. With our driver driving for us, we arrived at the airport earlier than expected. I excitedly went on board when our flight got called. I’m on the seat opposite of Priam’s and he was now sleeping. He’s not a morning person that is why he is now sleeping. I am listening to music while I’m looking outside the window. Clouds are all I can see. I rested my head on the headrest and closed my eyes. Later on, I fell asleep and woke up with us already in Korea. "Korea!" Priam exclaimed and went down first He jumped all around but then he stopped when he felt the cold temperature surrounding us. I walked to him and put on his coat. I am wearing a black coat that reaches my knees. Thanks to the coat, the cold temperature was lessened and I can manage the weather. We’re currently going to our house here in Korea. Seoul is Mom’s birthplace that is why she is very good at speaking Korean. Me? I just know some basic words besides; I was born in the Philippines. The house was a three story and five bedroom house. It was a mixture of gray and white that made it look so modern. One part of the first floor’s wall was made up with glass so you can clearly see the living room inside. When you enter, a hallway full of paintings welcomes you and guides you to the living room and the dining room. Our rooms were on the third floor and the master’s bedroom was upstairs. The maid helped me with my luggage and put it on my room. My room was neatly clean and everything is in place. That’s great because I don’t like messy stuffs. I always want things organize. "Piper? Aren’t you going to have lunch with us?" I heard Mom’s voice just outside my door, so I opened it for her. "I’ll unpack first Mom. I’ll just follow you for dinner once I’m done." "Okay, make sure to eat lunch with us." she remined and went down the staircase I closed the door of my room to start unpacking. After I finished that task, I took a quick shower and changed to more comfortable clothes. Wearing a gray sweatpants and a pink shirt, I went down to have lunch with Mom and Priam. "Piper, why did it take you so long?" "I had a quick shower, Mom. Where’s Priam?"I asked curiously because he wasn’t in the dining table "He went out to buy something. He’ll be back before we go to the market." Mom assured and I nodded to what she said I sat down beside Mom and started eating with her when Priam arrived. He was wearing a black winter coat and he handed it to the maid. "What did you buy, Priam?" "It’s just a snack I’ve wanted to try, Mom. I’ll be upstairs in the theater room, just call me when we’re about to go." "Sure, honey. Have fun upstairs." Priam then ascended the staircase and disappeared on our sight. I wanted to protest about Priam not buying one snack for me but he was so quick to leave the dining room. "Eat, Piper. We’ll be going to the market, later." Mom said and I obeyed her When we finished eating lunch, we changed clothes to get ready for the market. Mom wanted to tour around and buy stuff. She wanted us to tag along and make suggestions on what to buy. We don’t have a choice but to go with her. It’ll be one busy afternoon for us.
