- Suddenly, my phone rings. Kate: Excuse me. - I reach into my bag and pull out my new phone. Edward is calling! But why? Kate: Sorry, I need to take this call. It’s my brother. Luke: It’s alright. Go ahead. Kate: Sam, Hi! - Edward’s voice is cold. Edward: I heard you’ve agreed to go to his place. Well done. Make it memorable. You can’t be just a one-night stand to him. Kate: Alright. I’ll try to find that recipe! But how did you find out about it? I thought I’d hidden my cookbook quite well. Edward: Cute code. Luke: Me neither. Shall we? - Luke drives us to his place. It’s a big house, practically a manor, where, he explains, he has a whole wing to himself. Kate: It’s... Wow! I have no words. Luke: Perks of being a senator’s son. I do love with my parents, but I only see them of I cross a dozen hallways. - He shrugs and leads me inside. We spend the next half hour exchanging funny anecdotes, and the night moves along without a hitch. After a while, I notice his eyes wandering across my body. There’s a lazy expression in his eyes... Something that makes him seem more seductive. It’s something new, something that wasn’t there at the restaurant. Luke: So... Kate: So? - Luke places his hands on my knee and leaves it there for a second, testing my reaction. I part my lips and hold my breath. There’s something sweet about the anticipation. Luke loans forward and plants a soft kiss on my lips. Luke: I hope this is okay. - I only smile before kissing him back. His soft lips move expertly against mine.
